7326 días=2 décadas=20 años
La oscuridad se había muerto. Tres serpentinas de humo entraron a su nariz registrando ese olor a quemado de las pequeñas combustiones características de esos días. Un segundo de silencio y luego otra vez el bullicio se adueñaba de la sala. Entre las pocas personas que lo acompañaban, como siempre, había esperado pacientemente por el postre encendido. Jamás fue fanático de ese ritual, sin embargo lo seguía, más por complacer a los que estaban a su alrededor que por gusto propio. Nunca significó mucho para él. Se levantó de la silla y esperó a que el cántico mal entonado cayera en el foso del silencio. Mientras eso ocurría, intentó cerrar los ojos por un momento. Recordó la vez pasada, y la vez antes de la pasada y así hasta que se acabó la cinta de su memoria. En un instante, se encontraba ante la vigésima pared derribada. Dos décadas respirando, dejando latir su corazón, algunas veces pensando. Veinte años viviendo, en resumidas cuentas.
Expulsó de su mente los fantasmas de siempre, sabiendo que volverían. Olvidó sus agobios y angustias. Una a una fue cerrando las ventanas de las neuronas que estaban llenas de números y compromisos. Guardó los legajos de historias sin terminar, frases que nunca dijo y acciones pendientes. Sabía que pronto su cerebro volvería a abrir las puertas cerradas. Se apresuró.
Recordó que jamás creyó en el deseo. Pero en el lienzo de su mente ya había una imagen formada. No le interesaba saber si era ese su deseo. Terminó de olvidar aquello que no le importaba y dejó su mente como si fuera la primera vez que empezaba a funcionar. Abrió los ojos y vio en la tímida llama, conocedora de su fatídico destino, aquello que deseaba. No se preguntó el porqué de su deseo. Sintió que su cerebro volvía a despertar. Tomo aire y, al igual que hace 20 años atrás dejó escapar su aliento, apagando la vela y regalándose un segundo de oscuridad.

Yo tampoco creo en eso y de hecho pocas veces decido complacer a la gente que me rodea, pero igual de necias me lo celebran. Lo importante es que sigues aqui y que tengas una imagen clara en tu mente de a dónde quieres ir.

hey viejo felicitaciones por entrar en tu segunda decena.
en cuanto a lo del ritual a mi tambien me parece algo fastidioso, pero que se le hace. Para los demas es una manera de mostrar su cariño por la persona homenajeada.

Por cierto que se deberia iniciar una peticion para evitar bochornosas entonaciones del "Ayyyy que noche tan preciosa" con añadidos flocloricos como "la noche haciendo pipi".
O vetar de las celebraciones a los graciosos que, llegando cierto punto de la cancion, confunden al resto entonando otra como "Gloria al bravo pueblo", "Habia una vez un barquito chiquitico", o peor aun "La gasolina".
